When one thinks of the Central Pacific, the two locations that come to mind are Jacó and Manuel Antonio. Jacó is the most active beach town in the country and lately it has begun to resemble more the Mexican Riviera than it does Costa Rica, with high rise condo complexes and hotels popping up everywhere. However, if you are looking for non-stop action, day or night, Jacó may fit your bill. It has become more and more popular of late with the Spring break crowds. Not to be overlooked only a few minutes away is the surfer town of Hermosa, which boasts some of the most consistent surf in the country.
For folks wanting a little more laid back and natural environment, less than an hour away from the hustle and bustle of Jacó is the town of Quepos and the Manuel Antonio National Park. Manuel Antonio has some of the nicest hotels in the country, many of which are small and unique "boutique" hotels that offer incredible service, views and tropical ambiance. The park itself is the smallest, yet most visited, in the country and is a virtual "natural zoo" full of a wide variety of wild-life, including the ever popular monkeys. The beaches of Manuel Antonio are also some of the most pristine in the country. The Central Pacific offers a little something for everyone.
