Day 7. On this day visit the Palo Verde National Park. Birds are the biggest attraction at Palo Verde National Park. In the wet season the floodwaters of the Río Tempisque spread to form extensive marshes that welcome migrant birds from the Americas at the onset of winter. As the winter dry season (called summer in Costa Rica) progresses the marshes shrink to isolated patches and pools, and the migrants depart for their summer nesting grounds in temperate climates. As you arrive at the Tempisque River board the boat, the Palo Verde National experience will begin along with the slow-moving river, which crosses the dry Pacific Savanas. Spot a fabulous array of wild birds and a myriad of creatures such howler monkeys, green iguanas and king fishers. This full day tour includes transportation, bilingual tour guide, lunch and a boat tour.
